You should easily be able to get a pair (pun intended) of plates for less than that. I have never seen someone put stock covers back on over the plates. Just put the block offs on & go unless for some weird reason you want to keep the stock covers & hoses on. Most other Hondas have a reed valve under the stock cover--leave the reed valve--not because you need the reed but because it is also the seal for the cover/plate.

The stock covers are designed to look like the old valve access on the orig engines.

Oh, ya, cause the (8) old round with hex head tappet covers of a SOHC engine look exactly like the (2) rectangular box covers with a hose nipple on top of a DOHC engine. The resemblance is uncanny. Not to mention its a standard Honda design cover that has been used on virtually every 4 cylinder PAIR equipped bike Honda ever made for decades; which is why all the block off plates work.
