Ferret - better hope the Windmill Anti-Defamation League never gets "wind" of this ...ROFL

Fortunately, you didn't call them whirligigs.

ROFL My wife says I am naive about lots of things. I see something and wonder why people would do it, and she just tells me how naive I am and that people are just different and like different things.

Actually, I think most of us are like that.

However, to broaden your horizons, you could visit the Mid-America Windmill Museum in Kendalville, IN (north of Fort Wayne). Windmills are quite fascinating and more complicated than you might think. Take lots of pictures.

My wife thinks yard ornament windmills are adorable. I had to paint ours John Deere Green just fr her.

OK... the first two, I see the windmill, but not in the second two. Are these examples of those "unfocus your eyes" pictures?? Wink

RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge
Learned a lot of High Plains history today, but I'll summarize and link to an article in the Caprock Chronicles that provides some fascinating background information for anyone that is interested.

First of all, this windmill is fundamentally a lawn ornament. It is a 114 foot steel replica, erected in 1969, of a 132 foot wooden windmill that was constructed around 1887 and toppled in a sandstorm in 1926. It is located in Littlefield, TX and the old train depot is in the background.

For its day, the original windmill was considered an engineering marvel and was reportedly the tallest windmill in the world. It was one of 325 windmills on the 3 million acre XIT ranch, which was the largest fenced ranch in the world.
