RE: Kawasaki Z900RS
The market differs so much from one region to another. Motorcycle dealers in my region are mainly ATV dealers who happen to sell a motorcycle at times. The larger dealers in Savannah and Jacksonville rely heavily on cruiser sales while bikes like our beloved CB and the new Kawasaki gather dust and are finally sold off at large discounts. A Honda dealer nearby still has his original two CB1100s he ordered in 2013. He has discounted them but not enough to sell them at his asking price. I bought my 2005 ST1300 from him in mid summer of 2006 at a discounted cash deal. He told me I was the only customer who had expressed an interest in it.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

My local dealer has sold two 900RS's already and sales on other bikes are really slow. He still has the Z900 no ABS.

Saw two of these in Matlock a couple of weeks' ago (a metallic brown and a black). Very, very nice. The large fuel tank appears almost oval viewed from above and sweeps beautifully into the side panels.
The metallic brown wouldn't be my choice if I simply read it on a dealers order form. In reality it is gorgeous.
The monoshock I can forgive, the watercooling too but it's not an honest replica in the same way as our CBs are and it's probably closest to the CB RS in this respect.
For me at least I still prefer my EX.
In reviews they criticise the low speed fuelling - probably the excuse would be that it's a necessary evil of keeping within the tight euro 4 emissions limits. Not good enough Kawasaki (or KTM) the Honda has almost flawless fuelling.

When Kawasaki switched to big watercooled Inline Fours the 1100 and afterwards the 1200 ZRX looked much better than their newest release, although I'm not a fan of watercooled engines. Just doing a liitle cosmetic and raise the price of a previously model with an ugly engine does not take something away from my impression, that it is no more than a derivate that's based on a wellknown name, that should win buyers. Some like it, I don't.

It's a shot glass ... for drinking games ... every time you pass a Harley, you take a shot. Big Grin

Personally, I looooooove everything about the RS ... except the price tag and the insurance rates. While shopping CB1100s and other bikes I would straddle one of these in the showroom ... and the fit for a tall guy like me, the lighter weight, standard 17" wheels and shared engine components, and all the modern bells and whistles like ABS, traction control, LED lights and modern interpretation of the retro look just won me over.

But at around $13K out the door in the U.S., I'll wait for the used market in a couple of years ... so I bought a used CB in the meantime ... which may of course make me forget all about the RS. Wink

So, please, tell all your friends to buy one, then get into serious financial trouble later and have to sell it to me. Banana

If it looks like urine, it’s time to bleed the brakes! Should look like white wine.

RE: Kawasaki Z900RS
I have been hoping for a long time that a bike would be built to make me want to buy it but it just has not happened. I set on one of these Kaw 900's and the first glance and seeing the old paint scheme quickly wore off as i looked down at that radiator.

only one bike would have made me knock down doors to be 1st

haha i saw that pic on the net once too and did a lot of reading immediately to figure out if it's real. it seems somebody created a CG mockup of a modern CB1000r, but with a 6cyl valkyrie engine. there are no plans anywhere to to build that in real life. i can't imagine it would handle very well even if they did.
