RE: 2017 CB1100ex Bennetts "Real World test"
It's a rapidly changing world in which we live. I realize that people have been saying this for countless generations now, but it's true. The pace of change in technology is mind boggling. As technology intertwines itself in our lives, plotting the curve of the "overall change" would show that this change is becoming more and more exponential as a result. The impact this change has on things like the journalistic coverage of the things around us is just one of many.

Perhaps it's not just the fault of the manufacturers or the journalists, but rather society. Actions speak louder than words. For example, people always have the option of choosing to stop purchasing such magazines or the motorcycles those magazines cover for that matter. But if the lack of information really bothered people then hopefully they also take the time to write the publishers and the manufacturers alike explaining why. But keep in mind that the old adage "you get what you pay for" didn't come about without cause.

It's a rapidly changing model for things like "magazines" as the web component grows larger and larger. I imagine that in today's world, it becomes hard to place more emphasis on quality (things like in-depth coverage) as opposed to quantity (daily tidbits of info) when people want the latest information as soon as possible and there is only so much time/money to go around. Perhaps Capo could speak to some of these things as a contributor himself?

It kind of seems that as a society we tend to want it all, but a lot of us sure don't want to pay for it, lol.

Motorcycle Consumer News for years was a reliable, unbiased source of bike and product evaluations. Many of you may disagree, but since the departure of Dave Searle as editor, I lament the direction the magazine has taken. The reviews now seem to be nothing more than a rehash of the sales brochure. It's unfortunate.

I found that magazine to be rather insufferable, TBH. It lost me when it devised columns to supplements and yoga.

It's model of paid subscription with no advertising is admirable, but my sense is, in today's digital age, it's been left behind, with very limited reach.
[/I still read the MCN as I have done for 30 years but I do agree with your yoga and supplements nonsense in the magazine.

I have a simple way of dealing with new technology -
I don't spend any money on it -
I don't have a smart phone , cable TV , a tablet or any thing like that.

Maybe I'm the odd ball, but I didn't read any magazine articles before I bought my 2014 std.

I was just trying to relive my youth from my CB750 or maybe improve on it by finding an old Z1 900 I once rode.

Then I started thinking I'd rather ride one than work on one I started looking at new models. Test rode the CB1000R, just didn't fit my old fat body.

When I found the CB1100....Looks like my 750, has the same hp as the Z1, top that off with fuel injection...I was sold! ;-)
